What a beautiful summer day!! The weather was sunny, everyone was smiling, Larry looked very dashing, and Sarah was breathtaking. I loved spending the day with these two! Congratulations again!

These 3 boys were full of energy! Alisa wanted to capture her relationship with each of her boys – so that’s exactly what we did. Each has their own “thing” and quite honestly, couldn’t believe that we were having a whole photo session around playing. It’s probably one of my favorite parts about doing Lifestyle Sessions – the kids thoroughly and completely enjoy themselves (mom & dad have fun too!). Take a look at what we did together:
Here they are! I’m so excited. This went exactly as I pictured it in my head. There are a couple of reasons for this particular shoot – so I thought I’d share. My kids LOVE building forts, and I love watching their little imaginations go crazy as they play in them. We build all types – big ones, little ones, tall ones, dark ones, bright ones, short ones. Depends on the furniture available and how adventurous I’m feeling at the time.
Reason #2 – I’m obsessed with the Carters brand pajamas. Obsessed. We buy them at Costco twice a year. Once for the winter and once for the summer – so they have their “cold” jammies and their “summer” ones. LOVE. We’ve done this ever since my oldest was a baby – and now she’s actually on her last set. Biggest size they have so we’re going to have to come up with something else for next year (I’m tearing up just thinking about it!). So, I wanted a little something to document the ending of this phase in her (well, really MY) life.
Reason #3 – there has been almost ZERO snow this year. Its a little crazy. We usually have a few feet by now, but today it RAINED. Seriously. I’ve heard its been pretty mild all over the country, but STILL. My kids wanted to play in it – so we just decided to make our own. Pretty sweet stuff. You can buy it on Amazon. Insta-snow I think it’s called. Super fun times.
Reason #4 – They play SO well together. Cara is finally old enough to be interested in what her siblings are doing (except for the pillow fight – she just saw her blankie and decided it was naptime). They love to play legos – and my older 2 are adorable with their little sister.
There you have it. I’m in love with these photos. I can’t wait to print them on canvas’ and hang them in my front living room. Its going to be epic.
I love these “just for fun” sessions! Mike & Cassie have been great friends since they moved to Utah – and since they were leaving us for Texas we had to squeeze in a session before they left. Cassie is an illustrator, Mike’s a programmer, they LOVE making smoothies, having picnics and riding bikes. *whew* We did it all.
Jamie is one of the most amazing moms I know. She knows and can handle chaos better than anyone and absolutely adores her children. Pregnant with #4, she really wanted pictures of her 3 kids before their family changed one last (it is the last, right?) time.I knew how involved she is with her kids daily activities, and
coerced suggested we do a lifestyle session of what she loves the best. Spending time together as a family, and playing with her kids. And, boy, did we play. Enjoy a glimpse into the Herbert family. They are one of my favorites.
It was POURING rain the afternoon of this shoot. Kara & I were on the phone “Should we cancel? Should we try anyway?” probably every 5 minutes. I’m so glad we didn’t cancel. I got to the Utah State Fair and there was a light drizzle, and after a few minutes it stopped raining and the sun even peaked out from behind the clouds. It was perfect. We had so much running all over the fair, eating ice cream, throwing tantrums (well, some of us anyway), and just playing. I loved watching their family together – thanks for such a great evening!!
