Happy Birthday to my crazy baby!

I can’t believe it’s already been 3 years! To know she’s my last and watch her grow up is both exciting and sad all at the same time. I have such mixed emotions about my kids getting older. But, then, who doesn’t?! For those of you that don’t remember, Cara’s birth was fairly miraculous. I’m so grateful that she was born healthy, that I was okay and that we both came home from the hospital on time. It could’ve been so much worse.

We have decided that she really is a “silly woman” (which she will tell you on a regular basis). She loves to tease, make silly faces, and talk silly. Sometimes all at the same time. Currently, she is obsessed with Buzz Lightyear (something I find ridiculously adorable) and her favorite color is blue. Recently, she really has loved playing with her older brother and I can even see glimpses sometimes of her little imagination being sparked. Today when she pulled out her 2″ Buzz figurine and Andrew had Zurg – he fired on Buzz and “shot him”. Cara sat for a minute, looked down at Buzz, looked up at Andrew and then said “Buzz is running away! Come get him!” and ran into the other room so Andrew could chase her. I Love moments like that where my children just connect with each other. It makes my heart sing.

Cara also loves her music class,  the plasma car still (and we have at least 3 pairs of ruined shoes to prove it), play-DOH, Duplos, and sleeping in her “fort” that Andrew made for her over her bed.

Although she’s 3 tomorrow we still haven’t made any progress on the potty-training front. As much as I would like to be DONE with diapers its just not happening yet. Sam came up with a great motivational idea today so we might try that in the near future and see if we can make any progress. Mostly I just don’t want to push it and make us both miserable. Our summer is going to be chaotic enough.

I’ll leave you with a few of my favorite photos of her over the last 3 years, because really, what’s a blog post without something pretty to look at?!

I love these sessions I’ve had in my clients homes. There is just so much personality involved – we played games, had treats, and were just plain silly sometimes as well.

These 3 boys were full of energy! Alisa wanted to capture her relationship with each of her boys – so that’s exactly what we did. Each has their own “thing” and quite honestly, couldn’t believe that we were having a whole photo session around playing. It’s probably one of my favorite parts about doing Lifestyle Sessions – the kids thoroughly and completely enjoy themselves (mom & dad have fun too!). Take a look at what we did together:

Cara is 2!! Utah Lifestyle Photographer

Here are the rest. Can I tell you how much FUN this session was? We basically did all her favorite things. It was the last day I had with just the two of us before Andrew was done with preschool. I loved our mornings together. She’s such an easy toddler – completely content to play by herself, but LOVES attention when I sit down with her one on one. And her smile? Infectious. Bright blue eyes? Gorgeous. I’m also obsessed with her long BROWN hair (have you seen my other two toe-headed children?). So happy. I love her to pieces. You can see her newborn, 9 months, and 1 year photos and her 2 year old full gallery as well.

Sunglasses

The “wiggly car”. She loves this thing – and will follow her siblings on their bikes up and down the sidewalk for hours. She’s pretty fast too.

I suppose some might consider this an out-take, but I love it.

Her lovey – “gaffy” and giving kisses.

Best. Toy. Ever. She loves this piggy bank.

Her excited face & blankey.

Scraped knees & flip flops

Eating ice cream like a “big girl”.

Bring on the cake! Woot!!

This photo cracks me up!! She’s a total rockstar!

I did a studio session for a friend the other week, and I LOVE how they turned out. Having a studio is SO lovely. We played around a bit and then got down to cake business – well, she did anyway.:)

Stacking, inside, outside – I love the way that 1 year old’s play.

Apparently she LOVES being upside-down. She kept grinning and begging for more!

I love how she starts out so dainty – just poking at it with one finger…

Hmmm… maybe if I don’t use my hands?

Oh yeah!! I think I’m getting the hang of this…

Oh yeah!! Definitely using the hands!!

Kind of squishy…
Mom? Are you SURE this is okay?

You can also find Elise’s newborn photos here. I hate how fast they grow up.:(

Let it snow! Utah Lifestyle Photography

Here they are! I’m so excited. This went exactly as I pictured it in my head. There are a couple of reasons for this particular shoot – so I thought I’d share. My kids LOVE building forts, and I love watching their little imaginations go crazy as they play in them. We build all types – big ones, little ones, tall ones, dark ones, bright ones, short ones. Depends on the furniture available and how adventurous I’m feeling at the time.

Reason #2 – I’m obsessed with the Carters brand pajamas. Obsessed. We buy them at Costco twice a year. Once for the winter and once for the summer – so they have their “cold” jammies and their “summer” ones. LOVE. We’ve done this ever since my oldest was a baby – and now she’s actually on her last set. Biggest size they have so we’re going to have to come up with something else for next year (I’m tearing up just thinking about it!). So, I wanted a little something to document the ending of this phase in her (well, really MY) life.

Reason #3 – there has been almost ZERO snow this year. Its a little crazy. We usually have a few feet by now, but today it RAINED. Seriously. I’ve heard its been pretty mild all over the country, but STILL. My kids wanted to play in it – so we just decided to make our own. Pretty sweet stuff. You can buy it on Amazon. Insta-snow I think it’s called. Super fun times.

Reason #4 – They play SO well together. Cara is finally old enough to be interested in what her siblings are doing (except for the pillow fight – she just saw her blankie and decided it was naptime). They love to play legos – and my older 2 are adorable with their little sister.

There you have it. I’m in love with these photos. I can’t wait to print them on canvas’ and hang them in my front living room. Its going to be epic.
